$50 will get you a cup of coffee

Kopi Luwak sells for as much as $600 per pound, which makes it the most expensive coffee in the world according to Forbes magazine's Cup of Excellence awards. The coffee is made from coffee berries which have been eaten by and passed through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet. The animals gorge on the ripe berries, and excrete the partially-digested beans, which are then harvested for sale. This process takes place on the islands of Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi in the Indonesian Archipelago, in the Philippines (where the product is called Kape Alamid), and the coffee estates of south India.

The coffee is sold mainly in Japan and US, but it's becoming increasingly popular in other countries. If you're local Starbucks doesn't serve it yet you can visit the Heritage Tea Rooms, outside Townsville in Australia and order yourself a cup for A$50. Reportedly, it doesn't taste like shit.
